  • ROM, Haig: Driver 5.25 freezes TOCA2

If the track has fog (Weather=foggy in track options) the race starts and 5-10 seconds after it locks up. Tried several resolutions/color depth combinations and it´s always the same. G400 not overclocked.

I still haven´t played Toca2 with the new drivers, other guy pointed that out: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum5/HTML/004839.html I tried and I got the same results as him. Never had a problem with 5.13

System: Abit BX6(bios MP), celeron 300A@450 2.2v, 96 Mb sdram pc100, G400 retail 32 Mb, AWE 32, Scsi isa scanner adapter, external modem supra diamond express 56e, iomega zip 100 paralel, HDD fujitsu 6.4 Gb, CDROM Philips 40x, monitor nokia 447zi, microsoft midewinder wheel force feedback. Win 98, IE 5.0, G400 with lastest drivers and bios (5.25 and 1.5-22), DirectX7(final version), TOCA2 patched to 4.1 version.

Please try and see if you can reproduce the bug.

    Thanks!

I've experienced this as well. The subject is quite well covered in this thread: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum5/HTML/004754.html

It seems that the fog used with busmastering enabled causes a lockup with the 5.21 and 5.25 drivers. 5.11 and 5.13 work okay. So if you want a TOCA2 drive with foggy weather, you disable busmastering or use earlier drivers or wait for a Matrox fix.

      Hi Guys !

Did you already install the game-update ?
      http://www.3dfiles.com/patches/toca2touringcars.shtml

This patch updates the European retail version to 4.1. This patch is not for the Japanese version. A Japanese version will follow shortly.

      ...

Don't know if it helps, but it's worth a shot anyway.

Yes, I've run the patched version and it doesn't address this problem. Seems very much a g400 driver issue.

Hi, Maggi. Yes I use the 4.1 patch, I stated that in the first post.

I think it´s a driver problem, It worked fine with versions previous to 5.25.

            Hi,

I have tried it with powerdesk 5.20 and it
still hangs. I also have the same problem with sega rally 2.
