  • G400 and Nascar 3

I am a new poster here so bear with me please. I bought a G400 single head 32 meg card for running Nascar 3. I am only getting 20 fps in traffic with the default display options selected. I am running in 1024 x 768 res w/16 bit color and it looks great but is choppy in traffic. I am currently using the original versions of the bios and drivers that came on the install cd (sorry don't know the versions as I am at work). I downloaded the 5.25 drivers and followed all directions to uninstall the old and install the 5.25. After installing the new drivers I noticed strange white flashes around some of the cars and a few cars didn't display the graphics on them. I have a friend who has the Diamond v770ultra card and at 1024 res he is getting 25fps in traffic. Any idea why mine is so much lower? Should I upgrade the bios as well as the driver? Here are my system specs:
    P2-400
    Aopen AX6B MB
    128 Megs PC100 Ram
My friends specs are identical to mine with the exception of a MX300 sound card. Would the sound card make that much of a difference? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh I forgot, I am running a clean install of Win 98 to eliminate any previous driver problems.
    Thanks

Try to Run up front and then traffic will be decreased !

Hey I'm a big-ass Nascar geek!! I'm buying as soon as I see this puppy in a store...And we will all tweak the hell out of this sucker right here OK? Then lets all run on-line togther. OK?

To get frame rates you hit Alt-F. It gives you an average and current frame rate in the upper left corner. I installed the new bios and reinstalled the 5.25 drivers and I still get strange white flashes around the cars and at the start finish line. Since my last post I added a Monster mx300 sound card and it did make about a 4fps difference. I am testing the fps by starting in the back of the field at Talladega. I switched back to the drivers that came with the card and all the graphic anomalies are gone. Also switching off v-sync also seemed to help the fps a little. Before adding the mx-300 and turning off v-sync, I was averaging about 15 fps when the race started and maxed out at 25 when the field separated. After adding the mx300 and turning off v-sync, I am getting 20 fps at start of the race and maxing out at about 25 fps. I would like to use the Matrox overclocking utility but it says it is not compatible with my older drivers.

        Thanks,

I´m going to test this game this weekend.
( If my shop has the game )

Is there a timedemo mode ?
Or how did you get the score.
