  • Tribes v1.8 + G400 + OpenGL = terrible!!

Have anyone tried Tribes in OpenGL with a matrox g400?

On my pc, there are alot of gaps between textures. Some textures are missing (esp weapons textures), and the framerate is jumping between 2 and 31.

Is my card faulthy - or do you have similar experince with Tribes?

Tribes Gl is at an early stage and does not run worth a darn. Only TNT's are playable in GL as far as I know. Pretty much all other cards can not run well in GL mode, many can't run at all.

The Tribes team seems to have decided just helping TNT/TNT2/TNT2U users is good enough for now, and my opinion, if they don't fix it in Tribes Extreme and Tribes 2, I won't be buying them.

Devoltar is correct. There is only good support for Nvidia with Dynamax titles. I also hope that the Next version is a new engine that was not written for Glide...

        Hi,

Your card is not faulty. This is a normal error with a g400, infect this is the reason that nmy old TNT is bak in my pc.

I really hope if it solved real soon so i can use my very superior video card..

        Greetz,

Tribes' OGL does work (and is fast) but the only thing lacking is the texture management of PD5 OGL drivers. If and when Matrox get it fixed, the Tribes will fly in OGL. Actually if you try it out, Tribes is fast in OGL in indoor scenes, but slows down at outdoors so it just proofs that it's a driver issue.

-Tumu, Bugs? There's no such thing..

If it was simply a driver problem, it would not be that way on virtually ALL cards including 3DFX cards in GL mode. It is Tribes that has texture problems. (as well as the ICD)
