  • G400Max & Mechwarrior3

Has anyone had any problems with MW3 and G400Max? I get corruption on the HUD display and occationally it drops back to the desktop mid game. Any suggestions?

    System:

    Win98se
    GA5AXr4 Mainboard (Bios 1.5)
    192Mb RAM
    K6III 450
    G400MaxDH(1.5-22 Bios, PD 5.21.017)
    SBLive! Value (Liveware 2.1)

    TIA

Haven't tried Mech3 yet, but I used to have a few games throw me back to the desktop everynow and then. My problem was heat. Check that your system's ambient temp isn't too high. I see you have a MAX - that has it's own fan, so it shouldn't be too hot (worth checking the fan is spinning properly though!). So check your CPU temp.

I played straight through MW3 twice on my G400 without a hitch...

Only corruption I saw in the HUD was the intentional stuff in the game when my Mech was damaged.

Yeah, sometimes I get a green tinge all over the screen during the movie playback, and during the game play. Not just limited to the HUD items, it affects the whole screen. It's only ever kicked me back to the desktop once. Sometimes when I get the green tinge (which sometimes disappears by itself, other times needs a restart of MW3 only) it will crash and freeze my machine completely, while I'm trying to get back to Win98. This happens with both 5.13 and 5.21 drivers.

P.S. Shouldn't be heat related (that was my first thought), everything seems to be running very cool ...
