  • How do I optimize my G200 for Q2

    Hi Everyone,

    I have an AMDK6-2 450, 128Mb PC100, Millenium G200 8Mb, AX59Pro w/VIA MP3 Chipset.

I can't seem to get the frame rate in Q2 over 31 FPS nomatter what I do. Can anyone point me to a FAQ or give me some tips as to how to get better performance?

    Thanks.

    Hi there.

Once again, keep in mind the G200 is more than one year and half old, and by that time, 31 fps performance in Q2 was more than acceptable.

Assuming you have the latest drivers e bios for your mobo chipset and your G200 (and obviously the 3DNow! AMD patch for Quake2):

    Go to: http://www.voodooextreme.com/3Fingers/stuff/quake2.htm

They have lots of stuff how to optimize Q2. They even explain most of the settings and let you choose and it generates a config file on-line.

    And a bit of overclocking won´t harm I got 36 fps 800x600x16 gl_linear_mipmap_nearest with my G200 at 100/133 in a celeron 450.

Use Mgatweak (and a fan in the heatsink)

    Hope this helps.
